QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful about how you use your time and resources.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Ibn 'Umar and it states that keeping a dog for any purpose other than guarding fields, herds or hunting will result in the loss of two Qirats every day from one's rewards. A Qirat is an amount of reward given to people who do good deeds and it is equal to the weight of Mount Uhud. Therefore, this hadith warns us against keeping dogs as pets as it can lead to a decrease in our rewards. It also teaches us that we should be mindful about how we use our time and resources as they can have an effect on our spiritual life.
