Riyad as-Salihin 1301 (Book 11, Hadith 17) #37790
Pleasing Allah and Doing Jihad for Higher Position in Jannah

SUMMARY: The hadith explains that if one is pleased with Allah, Islam and Muhammad (PBUH) as his/her religion, then he/she will be entitled to enter Jannah. Furthermore, if one does Jihad in the way of Allah, then their position in Jannah will be elevated by 100 degrees.

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "If anyone is pleased with Allah as his Rabb, with Islam as his religion and with Muhammad as (Allah's) Messenger, surely, he will be entitled to enter Jannah". Abu Sa'id was delighted with this and requested the Messenger of Allah to repeat it. He repeated it again and then said, "There is also another act by which Allah will elevate the position of a (pious believing) slave in Jannah to a grade one hundred degrees higher. And the distance between any two grades is equal to the distance between heaven and earth". He asked the Messenger of Allah what it was and he () replied, "Jihad in the way of Allah; Jihad in the way of Allah". Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the importance of pleasing Allah and doing jihad for a higher position in Jannah. It is narrated by Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri who was delighted when he heard this hadith from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He asked Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to repeat it again which shows how important this message was for him. The hadith states that if someone is pleased with Allah as their Rabb, Islam as their religion and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the messenger of God then they will be entitled to enter into paradise or jannah. Furthermore, it also states that if someone does jihad or struggle in the way of God then they will have a higher position than others in jannah which would be 100 degrees higher than others. This shows us how important it is to please God and do good deeds so we can get rewarded with a high rank in paradise after our death on earth.
