Riyad as-Salihin 1249 (Book 8, Hadith 259) #37738
The Piety of the First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah

SUMMARY: The righteous actions done during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are more pleasing to Allah than any other days, even more so than Jihad in the Cause of Allah.

Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (ie, the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah)". He was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?" He replied, "Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it". Al- Bukhari.

QUICK LESSONS:
Do righteous deeds .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how important it is to do righteous deeds during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas that Prophet Muhammad said that these are the most beloved days to Allah and even more so than Jihad in the Cause of Allah. This means that doing good deeds and being pious during this time is very important and will be rewarded greatly by God. It also teaches us that we should strive for righteousness in all aspects, not just through physical acts such as jihad but also through our thoughts, words, and actions. We should strive to be kinder, more generous, and more compassionate towards others during this time as well as throughout our lives.
