Fasting Before Ramadan

SUMMARY: It is not recommended to fast on the days immediately before Ramadan, but if someone has a habit of fasting on those days, they may continue to do so.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet said, "Do not observe Saum (fasting) for a day or two days preceding Ramadan. However, if a person is in the habit of observing Saum on a particular day (which may fall on these dates), he may fast on that day". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about fasting before the month of Ramadan. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ advised against fasting for two days prior to the start of Ramadan, as it can be difficult and tiring. However, if someone has a habit of fasting on those days then they are allowed to continue doing so. This hadith teaches us that we should take care of our health and not overburden ourselves with too much worship or religious activities. We should also respect our own habits and traditions while still following Islamic teachings.
