The Special Moment of Friday

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the special moment that occurs during Friday between the time when the Imam sits down after delivering his first sermon and the time Salat is over.

Abu Burdah bin Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said to me: "Did you hear your father narrating something from the Messenger of Allah about the special moment during Friday?" I said: "Yes, I heard him report from the Messenger of Allah : 'It occurs between the time when the Imam sits down (on the pulpit after the first Khutbah) and the time Salat is over"'. Muslim.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to a special moment that occurs during every Friday prayer. It is reported by Abu Burdah bin Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari who heard it from Abdullah bin 'Umar, one of Prophet Muhammad's companions. According to this hadith, this special moment happens between the time when the Imam sits down after delivering his first sermon and before prayer ends. This suggests that there is a certain period of time in which Muslims should take advantage of to make supplications and ask for forgiveness from Allah as it will be accepted more readily than at other times. It also encourages Muslims to attend their weekly congregational prayers on Fridays as they can benefit from this special moment and receive blessings from Allah Almighty.
