The Importance of Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of prayer and how it should be done even if the morning has become bright.

Abu 'Abdullah Bilal bin Rabah (May Allah be pleased with him) the Mu'adhdhin of Messenger of Allah reported: I went to inform the Messenger of Allah about the time of the dawn (Fajr) prayer, and 'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) kept me busy and began to ask me about something till the day grew bright. Then I got up and informed the Messenger of Allah of the time of Salat. I informed him again but he did not came out immediately to lead As- Salat. When he came out, he led As-Salat. I said to him: 'Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) kept me busy and thus diverted my attention by asking about something and the morning grew bright. You also came out late. Upon that the Messenger of Allah said, "I was engaged in performing two Rak'ah of Fajr prayer". Bilal (May Allah be pleased with him)said: "O Messenger of Allah! You delayed As-Salat so long as the morning grew bright". He replied, "Even if the morning had become brighter than it had, I would have performed two Rak'ah of prayer in an excellent manner". Abu Dawud.

QUICK LESSONS:
Prioritize your prayers no matter what else is going on around you
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of prayer and how it should be done even if the morning has become bright. It is narrated by Abu 'Abdullah Bilal bin Rabah, who was a Mu'adhdhin or caller to prayer for Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He went to inform Prophet Muhammad ﷺ about the time for Fajr prayer, but was delayed by Aishah who asked him questions until daybreak. When he informed Prophet Muhammad ﷺ again, he did not come out immediately but when he did, he led As-Salat and explained that he was performing two Rak'ahs of Fajr prayer in an excellent manner even though daybreak had come. This teaches us that we must prioritize our prayers no matter what else is going on around us and make sure we perform them in an excellent manner as well.
