Riyad as-Salihin 1095 (Book 8, Hadith 105) #37584
Supplication for Protection from Allah's Punishment

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught his followers to stand on his right side during prayer and supplicated to Allah for protection from His punishment on the Day of Judgment.

Al-Bara' (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Whenever we performed Salat behind the Messenger of Allah , we liked to be on his right side so that his face might turn towards us (at the end of the Salat). One day, I heard Messenger of Allah supplicating, "O my Rabb! Shield me from Your Torment on the Day when You will gather (or said, 'resurrect') Your slaves". Muslim.
