Riyad as-Salihin 1037 (Book 8, Hadith 47) #37526
The Rewards of Repeating the Adhan and Praying for Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encourages people to repeat the words of the Mu'adhdhin when they hear the Adhan and to ask Allah to exalt his mention. He also asks people to pray for him that he may receive a high rank in Jannah, and promises that if anyone does so, he will intercede for them.

'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah saying, "When you hear the Adhan, repeat what the Mu'adhdhin says. Then ask Allah to exalt my mention because everyone who does so will receive in return ten rewards from Allah. Then beseech Allah to grant me Al-Wasilah, which is a high rank in Jannah, fitting for only one of Allah's slaves; and I hope that I will be that man. If any one asks Al-Wasilah for me, it becomes incumbent upon me to intercede for him". Muslim

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad encourages us to repeat what is said by the mu’aththin when we hear the adhaan. He also asks us to pray for him that he may receive a high rank in Paradise, known as al-Wasilah. If we do this, then it becomes incumbent upon him to intercede on our behalf. This hadith teaches us about how important it is for us as Muslims to remember our beloved prophet in our prayers and supplications. It also reminds us of how generous Allah is with His rewards; even something as simple as repeating what is said by the mu’aththin can bring great rewards from Him! Finally, it shows us how much love and respect we should have towards Prophet Muhammad; not only should we strive hard ourselves but also pray that he receives a high rank in Paradise!
