The Reward of Reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas is equal to one-third of the Qur'an.

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man heard another reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas repeatedly. The next morning he came to the Messenger of Allah and informed him about it as if he considered it to be of little reward. On that the Messenger of Allah said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, this Surah is equal to one-third of the Qur'an". Al- Bukhari.

QUICK LESSONS:
Recite Quran with sincerity and devotion

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about the importance and reward of reciting the Quran. It was narrated by Abu Sa’id al Khudri that a man heard another person reciting surah al Ikhlas repeatedly and he thought it was not worth much reward. However, when he told this to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, he said “By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, this Surah is equal to one third of the Quran”. This hadith shows us how important it is for us to recite the Quran as we will be rewarded greatly for it even if we are only able to recite a small portion such as surah al Ikhlas. We should also remember that Allah loves those who recite His words with sincerity and devotion and He will reward them accordingly.
