Praying for the Sick

SUMMARY: Visiting a sick person and praying for their healing will be answered by Allah.

Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet said, "He who visits a sick person who is not on the point of death and supplicates seven times: As'alullahal-'Azima Rabbal-'Arshil-'Azimi, an yashfiyaka (I beseech Allah the Great, the Rabb of the Great Throne, to heal you), Allah will certainly heal him from that sickness". Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi.

QUICK LESSONS:
Visit those who are ill; Pray for those in need; Show compassion towards others; Offer comfort to those in pain.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the power of prayer and supplication when visiting a sick person. It is narrated that Prophet Muhammad said that if someone visits a sick person who is not on the point of death and prays seven times “As’alullahal-'Azima Rabbal-'Arshil-'Azimi an yashfiyaka” which translates to “I beseech Allah the Great, the Rabb of the Great Throne to heal you” then Allah will certainly heal them from their sickness. This hadith teaches us that we should always pray for those who are ill and in need of healing as it is something that can be answered by Allah. We should also visit those who are ill as it can bring comfort to them during their time of need.
