QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect and politeness when seeking permission from someone; Knock on doors gently instead of banging loudly; Use polite phrases such as "May I come in?" or "Can I enter?".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of showing respect and politeness when seeking permission from someone. It was narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari who reported that he went to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and knocked at the door to seek permission. The Prophet ﷺ asked who was there and Jabir replied “I”. The Prophet ﷺ repeated “I, I?!” as if he disliked it. This shows us that we should not just say “I” when asking for permission but rather use a polite phrase such as “May I come in?” or “Can I enter?” We should also knock on doors gently instead of banging loudly so as not to disturb those inside. In this way, we can show respect for others and follow proper etiquette in our interactions with them.
