The Importance of Offering Salam

SUMMARY: When entering and leaving a gathering, one should offer salam to those present.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "When one of you arrives in a gathering, he should offer Salam to those who are already there, and he should also do so when he intends to depart. The first act of greeting is not more meritorious than the last'.' Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi.

QUICK LESSONS:
Offer Salam both when entering and leaving a gathering
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaches us the importance of offering salam when entering and leaving a gathering. It is important to greet those who are already present with respect and kindness, as this is an act of good manners that will be rewarded by Allah. Additionally, it shows that we care for others and value their presence in our lives. The Prophet ﷺ also taught us that both acts of greeting are equally important; neither one is more meritorious than the other. This hadith serves as a reminder for us to always be mindful of our manners when interacting with others, no matter what situation we find ourselves in.
