Generosity in Hardship

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us to be humble and generous, even when we have little.

Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah visited the house of a man of the Ansar with one of his Companions and said to him, "If you have some water in the water-skin left over from last night, give it to us for drinking; otherwise, we shall drink from some stream directly". Al- Bukhari.

QUICK LESSONS:
Help others in need; Remain humble no matter our circumstances; Strive to do good deeds

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) tells us about the exemplary character of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He was a model of humility and generosity even when he had very little. In this particular incident, he visited a man's house with one of his companions and asked for some water from the night before if it was available. If not, they would drink from a stream directly. This teaches us that we should always strive to help others in need even if we don't have much ourselves. We should also remember to remain humble no matter our circumstances or achievements in life.
