Sahih al-Bukhari 3892 (Book 63, Hadith 117) #3720
The Pledge of Allegiance to Allah and His Messenger

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the pledge of allegiance given by the companions of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) to not worship anything besides Allah, not steal, not commit illegal sexual intercourse, not kill their children, not utter slander and obey Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) if he orders them to do something good.

Narrated 'Ubada bin As-Samit: Who had taken part in the battle of Badr with Allah's Messenger and had been amongst his companions on the night of Al-'Aqaba Pledge: Allah's Messenger , surrounded by a group of his companions said, "Come along and give me the pledge of allegiance that you will not worship anything besides Allah, will not steal, will not commit illegal sexual intercourse will not kill your children, will not utter; slander, invented by yourself, and will not disobey me if I order you to do something good. Whoever among you will respect and fulfill this pledge, will be rewarded by Allah. And if one of you commits any of these sins and is punished in this world then that will be his expiation for it, and if one of you commits any of these sins and Allah screens his sin, then his matter, will rest with Allah: If He will, He will punish him and if He will,. He will excuse him". So I gave the pledge of allegiance to him for these conditions.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a pledge that was taken by the companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during his lifetime. They pledged to only worship Allah and no other gods or idols; they promised to never steal from anyone; they promised never to commit any form of illegal sexual intercourse; they promised never to kill their own children; they promised never to utter slander against anyone or make up lies about them; and finally, they promised that if Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ever asked them for something good then they would obey him without hesitation. In return for this pledge, Allah would reward those who kept it faithfully while those who broke it would be punished in this world as expiation for their sins. If someone broke this pledge but was forgiven by Allah then his matter will rest with Him - He may choose either punish or forgive him depending on His will.
