EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of welcoming, greeting and teaching those who seek knowledge. It was narrated by Isma'il that he entered upon Hasan to inquire after him until they filled the house. Hasan tucked up his legs and said that they also entered upon Abu Hurairah to inquire after him until they filled the house. Abu Hurairah tucked up his legs as well and said that they also entered upon the Messenger of Allah until they filled the house. The Prophet was lying on his side but when he saw them, he tucked up his legs then said “After I am gone, there will come to you people seeking knowledge. Welcome them, greet them and teach them." A narrator added that some people did not welcome or greet or teach them until they used to go to them then were treated rudely. This hadith emphasizes how important it is for us as Muslims to welcome those who are seeking knowledge with open arms, greet them warmly and teach what we know in order for us all benefit from each other's wisdom. We should never be rude or dismissive towards someone who is trying their best to learn more about Islam because it could be a great opportunity for both parties involved in terms of learning something new from each other's perspectives while still staying within Islamic boundaries at all times.
