The Reward of Seeking Knowledge

SUMMARY: Seeking knowledge is a noble act that is approved by Allah and His angels.

It was narrated that Zirr bin Hubaish said: "I went to Safwan bin 'Assal Al-Muradi and he said: 'What brought you here?' I said: 'I am seeking knowledge'. He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "There is no one who goes out of his house in order to seek knowledge, but the angels lower their wings in approval of his action'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of seeking knowledge. It was narrated by Zirr bin Hubaish that he went to Safwan bin 'Assal Al-Muradi and asked him for knowledge. Safwan then told him that he heard the Prophet Muhammad say, “There is no one who goes out of his house in order to seek knowledge, but the angels lower their wings in approval of his action." This hadith teaches us that seeking knowledge is a noble act which Allah and His angels approve of. It encourages us to go out and learn more about our religion, culture, history, science etc., so we can become better Muslims and better people overall. We should also strive to teach others what we have learned so they too can benefit from it.
