Funeral Prayer of the Negus

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) led the funeral prayer for the Negus and said four Takbir.

Abu Huraira further said: "Allah's Messenger made them (ie the Muslims) stand in rows at the Musalla (ie praying place) and led the funeral prayer for the Negus and said four Takbir".

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect to everyone regardless of their religion or beliefs
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Prophet Muhammad ﷺ led a funeral prayer for a non-Muslim leader called the Negus. He made all Muslims stand in rows at the Musalla and said four Takbirs. A takbir is when one says “Allahu Akbar” which means “God is great” in Arabic. This shows that even though he was not Muslim, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ still respected him and showed him kindness by leading his funeral prayer. It teaches us to be kind to everyone regardless of their religion or beliefs, as this was something that was important to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself.
