Sunan Ibn Majah 161 (Book) #37063
The Value of Generosity

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against insulting his companions, and stated that even if someone were to spend a large amount of money, it would not be equal to the small amount spent by any of them.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Do not revile my Companions, for by The One in Whose Hand is my soul! If any one of you were to spend the equivalent of Mount Uhud in gold, it would not equal a Mudd spent by anyone of them, nor even half a Mudd".

QUICK LESSONS:
Spend generously on charity and helping others with whatever resources we have available .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the value of generosity and charity. It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said “Do not revile my Companions, for by The One in Whose Hand is my soul! If any one of you were to spend the equivalent of Mount Uhud in gold, it would not equal a Mudd spent by anyone of them, nor even half a Mudd”. This hadith teaches us that generosity and charity are highly valued acts in Islam. Even if someone spends an enormous amount on charity or helping others, it will still be less than what some companions have done for others with their limited resources. We should strive to emulate their example and give whatever we can to help those who are less fortunate than us.
