Sahih al-Bukhari 3876 (Book 63, Hadith 101) #3704
Reward for Two Migrations

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) promised a reward to the people of the ship who were travelling from Yemen to Medina, for their two migrations.

Narrated Abu Musa: We received the news of the departure of the Prophet (to Medina) while we were in Yemen. So we went on board a ship but our ship took us away to An-Najashi (the Negus) in Ethiopia. There we met Ja'far bin Abi Talib and stayed with him till we came (to Medina) by the time when the Prophet had conquered Khaibar. The Prophet said, "O you people of the ship! You will have (the reward of) two migrations".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a group of people who were travelling from Yemen to Medina. They received news that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had already left for Medina, so they decided to take a ship and travel there. On their way, they stopped in Ethiopia and met Ja'far bin Abi Talib before finally reaching Medina when it was conquered by the Prophet ﷺ. When they arrived, he promised them a reward for their two migrations - one from Yemen to Ethiopia and another from Ethiopia to Medina. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive towards our goals no matter how difficult or long it may be because Allah will reward us with something greater in return if we are patient and persistent in our efforts. It also shows us that Allah rewards those who make sacrifices in His path even if it is something as small as travelling on a ship!
