Splitting of the Moon in the Time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)

SUMMARY: The moon was split into two parts during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas: During the lifetime of Allah's Messenger the moon was split (into two places).
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما أَنَّ الْقَمَرَ، انْشَقَّ عَلَى زَمَانِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about an amazing event that happened during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. It is narrated by Abdullah bin Abbas that one night, when people were looking at the moon, it suddenly split into two parts. One part moved to one side and another part moved to another side. This event was witnessed by many people and it showed how powerful Allah is. It also showed how much Allah loves His beloved prophet and how He will protect him from any harm or danger. This hadith teaches us to always have faith in Allah and His power no matter what happens around us. We should also remember that we should always obey our prophet as he has been chosen by Allah for a special purpose.
