Splitting of the Moon Miracle

SUMMARY: The people of Mecca asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to show them a miracle, and he split the moon in two halves for them to see.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The people of Mecca asked Allah's Messenger to show them a miracle. So he showed them the moon split in two halves between which they saw the Hira' mountain.
حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ـ رضى الله عنه أَنَّ أَهْلَ، مَكَّةَ سَأَلُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنْ يُرِيَهُمْ آيَةً، فَأَرَاهُمُ الْقَمَرَ شِقَّتَيْنِ، حَتَّى رَأَوْا حِرَاءً بَيْنَهُمَا‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a miracle that was performed by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The people of Mecca asked him to show them a miracle, so he showed them the moon split in two halves between which they saw the Hira' mountain. This event is known as ‘The Splitting of the Moon’ and it serves as an example of Allah's power and greatness. It also shows us how much faith we should have in Allah's promises and His messengers. We should always remember that nothing is impossible for Allah, no matter how difficult it may seem at first glance. We should also strive to follow His commands and teachings with full conviction, knowing that He will never let us down if we put our trust in Him.
