The Value of Seeking Knowledge and Wisdom

SUMMARY: Luqman al-Hakim advised his son to seek knowledge and wisdom from learned people, as Allah gives life to the dead earth with rain.

Yahya related to me from Malik that he heard that Luqman al-Hakim made his will and counselled his son, saying, "My son! Sit with the learned men and keep close to them. Allah gives life to the hearts with the light of wisdom as Allah gives life to the dead earth with the abundant rain of the sky".

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek knowledge and wisdom from learned people

EXPLANATIONS:
Luqman al-Hakim was a wise man who gave advice to his son before he passed away. He told him that it is important for him to sit with learned people and keep close to them in order for his heart to be filled with wisdom. Just like how Allah gives life back into the dead earth through rain, He also gives life back into our hearts through knowledge and wisdom. It is important for us all, especially children, to learn from those who are knowledgeable so that we can gain insight on how we should live our lives according to Islam.
