(Book 58, Hadith 6) #36891
The Generosity of A'isha and the Power of Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith is about A'isha's generosity and her reminder of the power of Allah.

Yahya related to me that Malik said, "I heard that a beggar asked for food from A'isha, umm al-muminin, while she had some grapes. She told some one to take him one grape. He began to look in amazement. A'isha said, 'Are you amazed? How many atoms' weights do you see in this grape?' " (referring to Sura 99 ayat 7).

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous with what you have no matter how little it may seem because every atom has its own weight in God's eyes .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the generosity and kindness of A'isha, one of Prophet Muhammad's wives. She was asked for food by a beggar while she had some grapes, so she told someone to give him one grape. The beggar was amazed at this act, so A'isha reminded him that even though it may seem like a small thing, it still contains many atoms which are all created by Allah and have their own weight in His eyes. This hadith reminds us that even small acts can be meaningful in the eyes of Allah if done with sincerity and kindness. It also teaches us to be generous with what we have no matter how little it may seem because every atom has its own weight in God's eyes.
