The Consequences of Words

SUMMARY: Allah rewards and punishes people for their words, even if they do not realize the consequences of what they say.

Malik related to me from Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Alqama from his father from Bilal ibn al-Harith al-Muzani that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "A man speaks what is pleasing to Allah and he does not suspect that it will have the result that it does, and Allah will write for him His good pleasure for it until the day when he meets Him. And a man speaks what excites the wrath of Allah and he does not suspect that it will have the result that it does, and Allah will write His wrath for him for it until the day when he meets Him".

QUICK LESSONS:
Speak kindly ; Use your words wisely ; Strive to please God with your speech ; Be mindful of how your speech affects others

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that our words have consequences. Even if we do not realize it at the time, our words can either please or anger Allah. If we speak in a way that pleases Him, He will reward us for it until the day when we meet Him. On the other hand, if we speak in a way that angers Him, He will punish us for it until the day when we meet Him. Therefore, it is important to be mindful of what we say and to always strive to speak in a way that pleases God. We should also remember that our words can have an impact on others and try to use them wisely so as not to hurt anyone's feelings or cause any harm.
