Speaking Ill of Others Reflects Badly on the Speaker

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against speaking ill of people, as it reflects badly on the speaker.

Malik related to me from Suhayl ibn Abu Salih from his father from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When you hear a man say, 'The people are ruined,' he himself is the most ruined of them all".

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that when we hear someone speaking ill of others, we should remember that it reflects badly on the speaker. He warned us against this type of speech and reminded us to be mindful of our words and actions. We should strive to speak positively about others and not criticize them in a negative way. This hadith teaches us to be kind and respectful towards one another, even if we disagree with someone's opinion or beliefs. It also reminds us that our words have power and can have a lasting impact on those around us.
