Fleeing Trials with Sheep

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Muslims to flee from trials and tribulations by taking their best property, which is sheep, to the mountains and valleys.

Malik related to me from Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Sasaca from his father that Abu Said al-Khudri said that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "It will soon happen that the best property of a muslim will be sheep which he takes to the peaks of the mountains and the valleys, fleeing with his deen from trials".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Malik ibn Anas from Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Sasaca from his father Abu Said al-Khudri. In this hadith the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Muslims to flee from trials and tribulations by taking their best property - which is sheep - to the mountains and valleys. This advice implies that one should take refuge in nature when faced with difficult times in life as it can provide a sense of peace and solace during such times. It also suggests that one should not be afraid of leaving behind material possessions if it means protecting oneself spiritually or emotionally. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us that we should prioritize our spiritual well being over material possessions as they are more important in the long run.
