Blessing Someone Who Sneezes

SUMMARY: Invoking blessings on someone who sneezes is a sign of respect and kindness.

Malik related to me from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr from his father that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "If a man sneezes, invoke a blessing on him. Then if he sneezes, invoke a blessing on him. Then if he sneezes, invoke a blessing on him. Then if he sneezes, say, 'You have a cold'". Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr said, "I don't know whether it was after the third or fourth".

QUICK LESSONS:
Invoke blessings on someone when they sneeze three or four times

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of showing respect and kindness to others. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ instructed us to invoke blessings on someone who sneezes three or four times. This is a sign of respect and kindness towards the person who has sneezed as it shows that we care about their wellbeing. It also serves as an encouragement for them to continue doing good deeds in life. Additionally, if the person continues to sneeze more than four times then we should say “You have a cold” in order to show our concern for them and wish them well in their recovery process. This hadith highlights the importance of being kind and respectful towards others regardless of their social status or background which is an important lesson for all Muslims to learn and practice in their daily lives.
