This hadith discusses the permissibility of a woman eating with people other than her relatives or slaves. The narrator, Yahya, asked Malik if it was permissible for a woman to eat with someone who was not related to her or a slave. Malik responded that there would be no harm in doing so as long as it was done in an appropriate manner. He then went on to explain that sometimes women will eat with their husbands and others they dine with, such as their brother, but cautioned against being alone with someone who is not related by blood, marriage or suckling.
