The Importance of Wearing Both Sandals

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to wear only one sandal, instead both sandals should be worn or go with both feet bare.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Do not wear one sandal. Wear both of them or go with both feet bare".

QUICK LESSONS:
Wear two shoes or go without any footwear at all

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaches us the importance of wearing two sandals and not just one. Going around with only one sandal on is considered inappropriate and disrespectful in Islamic culture. Instead it is recommended to either wear two sandals or go without any footwear at all. This hadith also emphasizes the importance of modesty and humility in our daily lives as going around barefoot can be seen as a sign of humbleness and respect for others. Furthermore this hadith also serves as a reminder that we should always strive to maintain proper etiquette when interacting with people in our society regardless if we are wearing shoes or not.
