Brotherhood in Islam

SUMMARY: Muslims should not be angry with each other, envy each other, or turn away from each other and should instead be brothers in servitude to Allah.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Anas ibn Malik that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Do not be angry with each other and do not envy each other and do not turn away from each other, and be slaves of Allah, brothers. It is not halal for a muslim to shun his brother for more than three nights".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of brotherhood among Muslims. The Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said that it is not permissible for a Muslim to shun his brother for more than three nights. He also warned against being angry with one another, envying one another, and turning away from one another. Instead of these negative behaviors, he encouraged Muslims to be slaves of Allah and brothers in servitude to Him. This hadith teaches us that we must strive for unity among ourselves as believers by avoiding negative behavior such as anger and envy towards our fellow Muslims. We must also remember that we are all servants of Allah first before anything else; this will help us stay united as a community despite our differences.
