Responsibility in Property Damage

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave a judgement that the people of the garden were responsible for guarding it during the day, and the owner of the animals was liable for what their animals destroyed at night.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Haram ibn Sad ibn Muhayyisa that a female camel of al-Bara ibn Azib entered the garden of a man and it did some damage to it. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave a judgement that the people of the garden were responsible for guarding it in the day, and the owner of the animals was liable for what the animals destroyed at night.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about responsibility and liability when it comes to property damage. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ gave a judgement that if an animal belonging to someone causes damage to another person's property, then during the day, it is up to those who are responsible for guarding that property to make sure no damage occurs. However, at night, it is up to the owner of those animals who caused the damage as they should have taken precautions against such an occurrence. This hadith teaches us about taking responsibility for our actions and being mindful of how our actions can affect others around us. It also teaches us about being considerate towards others and understanding how our negligence can cause harm or inconvenience them in some way or another.
