The Importance of Water for Herbage Growth

SUMMARY: Water should not be withheld in order to prevent herbage from growing.

Malik related to me from Abu'z-Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Excess water is not withheld in order to prevent herbage from growing".
وَحَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ يُمْنَعُ فَضْلُ الْمَاءِ لِيُمْنَعَ بِهِ الْكَلأُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of water for herbage growth. It teaches us that we should not withhold excess water in order to prevent herbage from growing. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was emphasizing the importance of using available resources wisely and taking care of our environment by ensuring that plants and trees are able to grow properly with enough access to water. We can learn from this hadith that it is important to use our resources responsibly so that we can maintain a healthy environment for ourselves and future generations.
