Prompt Payment for the Wealthy

SUMMARY: Payment should not be delayed by those who are wealthy.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zinad from al Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Delay in payment by a rich man is injustice, but when one of you is referred for payment to a wealthy man, let him be referred".

He also taught that if someone is referred for payment to a wealthy person, they should be referred without delay. This hadith teaches us that we must always strive to do what is right and just in our dealings with others and not take advantage of people because of their financial situation or lack thereof. It also reminds us that we must always be mindful of our actions and how they may affect others around us.
