The Benefits of Jala Kohl

SUMMARY: Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet, advised a woman in mourning to apply jala kohl at night and wipe it off in the day to relieve her eye pain.

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to a woman in mourning for her husband whose eyes were troubling her and the pain had become very strong, "Apply jala kohl at night and wipe it off in the day".

QUICK LESSONS:
Take care of one's health, Seek advice from knowledgeable people when needed, Use natural remedies instead of relying solely on modern medicine .

EXPLANATIONS:
Umm Salama was a wife of Prophet Muhammad and she gave advice to a woman who was mourning for her husband. Her eyes were causing her pain and so Umm Salama suggested that she should use jala kohl as a remedy. Jala kohl is an ancient form of eye makeup which is made from antimony sulfide. It has been used for centuries as an eye treatment because it can help reduce inflammation and irritation in the eyes. Applying jala kohl at night helps keep your eyes moist while wiping it off during the day helps remove any dirt or debris that may have accumulated on your eyelids during sleep. This hadith teaches us that we should take care of our health by using natural remedies such as jala kohl when possible instead of relying solely on modern medicine.
