Adornment During Mourning

SUMMARY: A woman in mourning for someone who has died should not abstain from adornment for more than three nights, except for a husband.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Safiyya bint Abi Ubayd from A'isha and Hafsa, the wives of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "It is not halal for a woman in mourning for someone who has died, if she trusts in Allah and the Last Day, to abstain from adornment for more than three nights, except for a husband".

QUICK LESSONS:
Take care of one's appearance while in mourning , Trust Allah's plan , Respect those who have passed away .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Islamic ruling on adorning oneself during mourning. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that it is not permissible for a woman in mourning to abstain from adorning herself if she trusts in Allah and the Last Day. This means that she should still take care of her appearance and dress nicely even though she is grieving the loss of someone close to her. However, this does not apply if she is mourning her husband as it would be inappropriate to do so then. This hadith teaches us that we should still take care of ourselves even when we are going through difficult times and trust in Allah's plan for us no matter what happens. It also shows us how important it is to respect our loved ones after they have passed away by honoring their memory with proper behavior and etiquette during our time of grief.
