Sacrificing After the Day of Sacrifice

SUMMARY: The sacrifice can be done up to two days after the Day of Sacrifice.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar said, "The sacrifice can be done up to two days after the Day of Sacrifice". Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard the same from Ali ibn Abi Talib.

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform sacrifices within a certain time frame

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about sacrificing animals on the day of sacrifice or two days after it. It is narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar and Ali ibn Abi Talib, who were companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. According to this hadith, one can perform a sacrifice up to two days after the day of sacrifice. This shows that Muslims are allowed some flexibility in performing their religious duties, as long as they are done within a certain time frame. It also teaches us that we should not delay our religious obligations for too long, but rather try to fulfill them as soon as possible so that we can reap their rewards in full measure.
