Eating Sacrificial Animal Meat

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade the consumption of sacrificial animal meat after three days, but later allowed it to be eaten, given away as charity, used for sustenance and stored.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z-Zubayr al-Makki from Jabir ibn Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade that the meat from sacrificial animals be eaten after three days. Then later he said, "Eat, give sadaqa, provide for yourselves and store up".

QUICK LESSONS:
Eat sacrifical animal meat within 3 days; Give sadaqa; Provide for oneself; Store up food

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consumption of sacrificial animal meat. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ initially forbade eating it after three days but then later allowed it to be eaten, given away as charity, used for sustenance and stored up. This teaches us that we should not waste food and should use our resources wisely. We can give away what we don't need or store it up so that we can use it in times of need. We should also remember to give sadaqa or charity whenever possible so that those who are less fortunate than us can benefit too.
