Sharing Labor and Fruits

SUMMARY: The Ansar and the Emigrants had a disagreement over the date-palm trees, but eventually agreed to share the labor and fruits of the gardens.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Ansar said (to the Prophet ), "Please divide the date-palm trees between us and them (ie emigrants)". The Prophet said, "No". The Ansar said, "Let them (ie the emigrants) do the labor for us in the gardens and share the date-fruits with us". The emigrants said, "We accepted this".

QUICK LESSONS:
Cooperate with others even when we disagree on something; Reach an agreement through compromise; Share resources with others; Work together in order to achieve better outcomes for everyone involved.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about cooperation between two groups of people. The Ansar were people who lived in Medina before Prophet Muhammad's arrival while the Emigrants were those who followed him from Mecca. In this hadith, they disagreed over how to divide up some date-palm trees but eventually reached an agreement that both sides would work together in the gardens and share both their labor and fruits. This teaches us that it is important to cooperate with others even when we disagree on something because it can lead to better outcomes for everyone involved. It also shows us that compromise is possible even when two sides have different opinions or ideas about something.
