Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that Umar ibn al-Khattab in one year gave 40,000 camels as mounts. Sometimes he would give one man a camel to himself. Sometimes he would give one camel between two men to take them to Iraq. A man from Iraq came to him and said, "Give Suhaym and I a mount'.'Umar ibn al-Khattab said to him,"l demand from you, by Allah!, is Suhaym a water skin?" He said, "Yes".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous with your resources and don't be selfish with them so everyone can benefit equally from it .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the generosity of Umar ibn al-Khattab, who was the second Caliph of Islam after Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this hadith, it is mentioned that he gave 40,000 camels as mounts in one year. He would give each person their own camel or two people could share one camel if they were going together somewhere like Iraq. When a man from Iraq asked him for a mount for himself and his companion Suhaym, he asked if Suhaym was a water skin because he wanted to make sure that everyone got their fair share of the resources available at that time. This hadith teaches us about the importance of being generous with our resources and not being selfish with them so that everyone can benefit equally from them. It also teaches us about how we should be mindful when distributing resources so that no one is left out or disadvantaged due to lack of access or knowledge about what is available around them.
