Respect for traditions and rituals

This hadith talks about a ritual that was practiced by people in ancient times. It is known as stoning or Rajm which involves throwing stones at a pillar called Jamarah. It is said that Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan was the first one to ride while going there and coming back instead of walking like others did. This shows us that it is important to respect traditions and rituals even if we are in a position of power or authority.
