The Least Difficult Sacrifice

SUMMARY: Sacrificing a sheep is the least difficult thing acceptable as a sacrificial animal.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Jafar ibn Muhammad from his father that Ali ibn Abi Talib used to say, "The least difficult thing acceptable as a sacrificial animal is a sheep".

QUICK LESSONS:
Offer sacrifices according to Islamic teachings

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of sacrifice in Islam and how it is an act of worship that can be done with ease. It was narrated by Yahya who heard it from Malik who heard it from Jafar ibn Muhammad who heard it from his father that Ali ibn Abi Talib said “The least difficult thing acceptable as a sacrificial animal is a sheep”. This means that sacrificing an animal such as a sheep is the easiest way to fulfill this religious obligation and shows us how easy Allah has made this act for us to do. It also teaches us about being generous and giving up something valuable for the sake of Allah which will bring great rewards in return.
