Performing Tawaf While Riding a Camel

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised Umm Salama to perform tawaf while riding a camel, while he was reciting Surat at-Tur.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'l-Aswad Muhammad ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Nawfal from Urwa ibn az-Zubayr from Zaynab bint Abi Salama that Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "I once complained to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that I was ill and he said, 'Do tawaf riding behind the people'. So I did tawaf riding my camel, while the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was praying by the side of the House, reciting Surat at-Tur".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the advice given by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his wife Umm Salama when she was ill. He advised her to perform tawaf around the Kaaba while riding on her camel instead of walking. During this time, he was reciting Surat at-Tur which is a chapter from the Quran that talks about how Allah created mankind and gave them guidance through His prophets and messengers. This hadith teaches us that even when we are ill or weak we should still strive to do our religious duties as best as we can with whatever means available to us. It also shows us how important it is for us to recite Quran regularly in order for us to stay connected with Allah and receive His blessings in our lives.
