Removing Mites and Ticks While in Ihram

SUMMARY: Abdullah ibn Umar did not approve of people removing mites or ticks from their camels while in ihram.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar did not like people who were in ihram removing mites or ticks from their camels. Malik said, "This is what I like most out of what I have heard about the matter".

QUICK LESSONS:
Observe religious rules strictly; Respect animals; Follow Islamic teachings; Abide by Islamic laws; Follow instructions given by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of observing the rules of ihram. It was narrated by Yahya from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar did not like people who were in ihram removing mites or ticks from their camels. This means that it is not permissible to remove any kind of pests or insects while one is in a state of ihram. The reason for this prohibition is because it may lead to harm being done to the animal and thus violate the sanctity of ihram. Furthermore, Malik said that this was his preferred opinion on the matter which shows how important it was for him to follow these rules strictly.
