Looking in the Mirror While in Ihram

SUMMARY: Abdullah ibn Umar looked in the mirror while he was in ihram, which is forbidden.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ayyub ibn Musa that Abdullah ibn Umar once looked in the mirror for something that was irritating him while he was in ihram.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful and respectful during times when seeking closeness with Allah SWT .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that it is forbidden to look into a mirror while one is wearing ihram, which is a state of holiness and purity that Muslims enter when they are performing Hajj or Umrah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that we should be mindful of our actions and words when we are in this state, as it should be a time for spiritual reflection and devotion to Allah SWT. We must remember not to do anything that would break our state of holiness, such as looking into a mirror or engaging in any other activities that would distract us from worshipping Allah SWT. This hadith reminds us of the importance of being mindful and respectful during times when we are seeking closeness with Allah SWT.
