Sahih al-Bukhari 3756b (Book 62, Hadith 102) #3585
Praying for Knowledge of the Qur'an

SUMMARY: This hadith is about praying to Allah to teach someone the knowledge of the Qur'an.

Narrated 'Abdul Warith: The same but said, "O Allah, teach him (Ibn Abbas) the Book (ie the understanding of the knowledge of Qur'an)". Narrated Khalid: As above.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، وَقَالَ، ‏ "‏ عَلِّمْهُ الْكِتَابَ ‏"‏‏.‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، مِثْلَهُ‏.‏ وَالْحِكْمَةُ الْإِصَابَةُ فِي غَيْرِ النُّبُوَّةِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of seeking knowledge from Allah. It encourages us to pray for guidance and understanding in order to learn more about the Quran. The narrator, 'Abdul Warith and Khalid, both prayed for Ibn Abbas that Allah would grant him knowledge of the Quran. This shows us that we should always ask Allah for help when it comes to learning something new or difficult. We should also be humble in our prayers, as this will increase our chances of being granted what we ask for. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us that knowledge is a gift from Allah and it is important to seek it out in order to better understand His teachings.
