QUICK LESSONS:
Enter into a state of ihram before performing certain religious rituals such as Hajj or Umrah .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's journey to perform an umra in Makka. An umra is a pilgrimage to Makka that can be done any time of the year and does not have to be done during Hajj season like a regular pilgrimage does. Before beginning his journey, the Prophet Muhammad entered into a state of ihram which is a spiritual and physical state of purity that Muslims enter into before performing certain religious rituals such as Hajj or Umrah. The Prophet Muhammad began his journey in al-Jiirrana which was near Makka and this hadith serves as an example for Muslims who wish to perform their own pilgrimages today.
