Praying Over the Dead

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to pray over a dead person unless one is in a state of wudu. Praying over a child born of adultery or its mother is allowed.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to say, "No-one should pray over a dead person unless he is in wudu". Yahya said that he heard Malik say, "I have not seen any person of knowledge disapproving of praying over either a child born of adultery or its mother".

Perform wudhu before praying for someone who has passed away; Show compassion towards those who have made mistakes; Be mindful when performing religious rituals such as prayer

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the importance of being in a state of wudu when praying over the dead. Wudu is an Islamic ritual that involves washing certain parts of the body with water and it must be done before prayer. The hadith also states that it is permissible to pray over either a child born out of adultery or its mother, which shows that Islam does not discriminate against those who have committed sins and encourages forgiveness and mercy instead. This hadith teaches us to be mindful when performing religious rituals such as prayer and reminds us to show compassion towards those who have made mistakes in life.
