Making Dua for Others in a Mosque

SUMMARY: A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, made dua for Sad ibn Abi Waqqas in the mosque despite some people disapproving of it. She justified her action by citing an example of how the Messenger of Allah prayed over Suhayl ibn Bayda in the mosque.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'n Nadr, the mawla of Umar ibn Ubaydullah that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ordered that the body of Sad ibn Abi Waqqas be brought past her in the mosque so that she could make dua for him. Some people disapproved of her doing that, and she said, "How hasty people are! The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, only prayed over Suhayl ibn Bayda in the mosque".

QUICK LESSONS:
Make supplications/dua for others inside mosques without disrupting other worshippers’ prayers or causing any disturbance within its premises .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about making supplications or dua for others in a mosque. A’isha, wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was criticized by some people when she made dua for Sad ibn Abi Waqqas while his body was being brought past her in a mosque. In response to this criticism, she cited an example from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself who had prayed over Suhayl ibn Bayda inside a mosque as well. This hadith teaches us that we should not be hasty and judge others without knowing all facts and that it is permissible to make supplications or dua for others inside mosques as long as it does not disrupt other worshippers’ prayers or cause any disturbance within the premises.
