(Book 15, Hadith 44) #35565
Prayer Times Forbidden by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade prayer at certain times of the day when the sun is rising, reaching its meridian, declining and nearly setting.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata ibn Yasar from Abdullah as-Sunabihi that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The sun rises and with it is a horn of Shaytan and when the sun gets higher the horn leaves it. Then when the sun reaches the meridian the horn joins it and when the sun declines the horn leaves it, and when the sun has nearly set it joins it again". The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade prayer at these times.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your prayers ; Be aware ; Focus on worship towards Allah SWT

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith states that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prohibited Muslims from praying at certain times of the day. These times are when the sun is rising, reaching its meridian or highest point in the sky during midday, declining or setting in the evening and nearly setting. It is believed that during these times a horn of Shaytan appears with the sun which makes it difficult to pray properly and thus it should be avoided. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our prayers and to ensure we are not distracted by any external factors while praying so that we can focus on our worship towards Allah SWT. It also reminds us to be aware of our surroundings so that we do not fall into any traps set up by Shaytan who seeks only to misguide us away from Allah SWT's path.
