Prostration During Recitation of Quran

SUMMARY: Umar ibn al Khattab recited Surat an-Najm and prostrated in it, then he recited another sura.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from al-Araj that Umar ibn al Khattab recited Surat an-Najm (Sura 53) and prostrated in it, and then got up and recited another sura.
وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، ‏.‏ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، قَرَأَ بِالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَى فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا ثُمَّ قَامَ فَقَرَأَ بِسُورَةٍ أُخْرَى

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about the importance of reciting the Quran and how Umar ibn al Khattab showed his reverence for it by prostrating after reciting Surat an-Najm. It is a reminder to us that we should also show our respect for the words of Allah by taking time to recite them with humility and reverence. We should also take time to reflect on what we have read so that we can gain insight into its teachings and apply them in our lives. Additionally, this hadith teaches us that when we come across verses in the Quran which mention prostration or bowing down as a sign of respect or worship, then it is important for us to do so out of obedience to Allah's commands.
